In order to ensure all passengers’ welfare, airlines take infants into account and offer all sorts of items on board to be as helpful as possible when assisting nursing mothers.
If a woman carrying an infant has no crib, no food and no diaper, the first thing you can do is to give the mother a couple of diapers which the baby will definitely need sooner or later, and ask about the baby’s immediate need by saying:
Is there anything you would like me to get it for your baby right away?
You can usually find diapers, powdered baby food, canned baby food and etc. in the galley. If the baby needs food, get the instructions from the mother about how she would like you to prepare it. You may ask:
How would you like me to prepare the food for your baby?
Would you like me to heat up the canned baby food?
How much powdered baby food and warm water does your baby need?
As for the crib, you should consider the safety above all and ask about the age and weight of the baby. To fit in with the safety standard, the baby must be under 6 months old and less than 10 kgs. You may install the crib on the partition 15 minutes after take-off and uninstall it at the start of descending.
