 A:  I visited Thailand a few years ago. I’ve seen local people selling deep fried insects on the street, such as deep fried beetles and grasshoppers. I never believed that Thai people actually eat them, until I personally saw that they were being drained for excessive oil on a street vendor. Those are insects that crawl on the ground! I normally dare not to take a closer look, let along imagining myself chewing and crunching them between my teeth. Those Thai delicacies are definitely not common for me. I would easily associate the idea of taking a bite of these creatures with the idea of eating cockroaches.
A: 幾年前我拜訪泰國，看到當地人在街上賣炸昆蟲，像是炸甲蟲和炸蟋蟀的，我從不相信泰國人真的會吃這些東西，直到親眼看見攤販正瀝著炸好的蟲子多餘的油，那些可是在地上爬的蟲子啊！平常就不敢近距離觀看，更別說是想像自己在齒間咀嚼著。那些泰國珍饈，對我來說絕非尋常！吃這些炸昆蟲，我會很容易聯想成是在吃蟑螂。

If I were to be offered with these insects on my Thai friend’s dining table, instead of screaming, I would politely reject him by saying, “It’s my pleasure to be your guest today; however, this dish is so interesting that I don’t think my stomach can accommodate them. I will have to occupy your toilet immediately after tasting. Anyway, may I have some more Tom Yum Goong instead? It’s amazingly fresh and aromatic! You must share with me your unique recipe.” By saying this, I believe my friend will totally understand and will not take any offense.
如果我被我的泰國朋友邀請上桌，招待享用這些炸昆蟲，與其驚聲尖叫，不如有禮貌地拒絕：「今天能成為你的座上賓，實屬榮幸，但這道菜實在是太有趣了，我想我的胃是無福享用，如果吃了，必定待會一定馬上佔用你的廁所。欸，反倒是可以再來點冬陰宮湯嗎？可真是又香又新鮮啊！你一定要跟我分享你的獨門配方喔。」如此說，相信我的朋友一定能體諒同時也不會被冒犯。

 B: I haven’t encountered any food that I cannot accept so far. But if I were to be offered with the food I prefer not to have, I would simply ask, “May I skip this food? I don’t feel comfortable with it.” I believe being honest is the best policy, rather than telling some unbelievable lies.
B: 至今還沒遇到我不能接受的食物，但如果被招待享用我不想吃的東西，我會直說：「我可以不品嚐嗎？對於這個食物我感到不是很舒服。」我相信與其說不可置信的謊，誠實才是上策。

【面試技巧Tips】

 A 可說是一個完整的回答方式，指出了國家，同時又生動地描述過去與不喜歡的食物接觸體驗 (they were being drained for excessive oil on a street vendor.)，大大地讓這種假設性的題目變得具體化，讓沒看過該食物的面試官，也能身歷其境 (Those are insects that crawl on the ground!)。接著 A 用對話的方式假設可能有的應對，其中帶著些許幽默感 (this dish is so interesting...)，使用間接的語言傳達出負面情緒，讓冒犯降到最低，然後馬上轉移話題稱讚別道食物的美味。如此正是航空公司想要找的空服員特質，處變不驚、應萬變、化尷尬。
